The Super Importance of Knowledge & Why Study History
History is a time dimension
History structures time
History is a time dimension, history structures time.

Dr. Amos N. Wilson in his wonderful work: “The Falsification of Afrikan Consciousness” asks and answers the
question: “why study history”? He informs us that there is a big connection between historiography, power and
money – a big connection that our enemies don’t want Africans to realize. “The study of history cannot be a mere
celebration of those who struggled on our behalf. We must be instructed by history and should transform history
into concrete reality, into planning and development, into the construction of power and the ability to ensure our
survival as a people. We must look at the lessons that history teaches us. We must understand the tremendous
value of studying history for the regaining of power. If our education is not about gaining real power, we are being
miseducated and misled. We cannot make the progress of Black people synonymous with some Blacks qualifying
for degrees, a few getting jobs downtown or that another Carol, Jessie, Opera, Colin, Condelisa or Barrack are the
first Africans in America to accomplish so and so. Our progress as a people cannot be measured in that
superficial way. The progress of Black people can only be measured by examining the condition of our young
people and our women; an examination of the condition, lifestyle and mentality of the masses as a whole. We
must wake up to this because we’ve had that game played on us many times for a long time now. If there were not
a direct relationship between history and money, a direct relationship between history and power, history and
rulership, historiography and domination, then why is it that the Eurasian, specifically the Caucasian, rewrote
history? Why is it that the European spends so much time and money to distort Black history? Why do European
scholars and historians want to perpetrate the lie that there was no Black history until he captured and brought
some of us to America? Apparently the rewriting, the distortion and the stealing of Black history must serve vital
economic, political and social functions for Caucasians, or else he would not bother and he would not try so hard
to keep “true Black history” away from us, or distort it in our minds[1].

2] The word experiment is used because the attempt by America and western culture was/is to convince the
descendants of the prisoners of war and kidnap victims that their African ancestors were totally defeated, their
will to resist and desire for total freedom was broken. Further that the moral and philosophical foundations of
Judeo-Christianity, Islam and western culture are something other than white supremacy (racism) its offspring.
Admittedly there has been some success in this regard. However, the continuous attempts to convince Africans in
this regard is very, very expensive, fleeting and boomerang with devastating destructive force back to the source.
FYI
Knowing ourselves is a fundamental aspect of assuming personal power and effectiveness. An, essential job
which cultures should perform is to teach people the knowledge of themselves. The way that parents raise their
children, the things that are taught in school, the rituals, holidays, signs, symbols and ceremonies that celebrate a
culture, should all be directed towards developing the people’s knowledge of who they are.
Human beings are not born with automatic knowledge of who they are, what they have been, and what they
can become. This is taught by the society through the family, the educational structures, the culture, the signs,
symbols, and the religion of a people. Human beings develop on the basis of the information that they receive
about themselves. If they are taught that they are people of dignity, power and value and are given examples of
such characteristics in the people around them, then they become dignified, powerful, and valuable. If they are
taught that they are inferior, degraded, and worthless, most of those so taught will become the outcasts of the
galaxy..
European-Americans receive a steady diet of their greatness as a people. Their homes and families display the
signs and symbols of European art, accomplishment, and dignity. The walls of their homes display pictures and
structures of European and Caucasian excellence. Their cities are filled with statues, monuments, names, and
structures which commemorate the heroes of their people. The media provides a constant parade of European-
American beauty, accomplishment, and power. The schools teach Euro-American excellence in all spheres and
all areas and times of human existence. Even their mistakes are shown to be accomplishments. Yet to barbarism
they always return; perhaps like Malcolm said: "chickens do come home to roost."
